--- BREAKING NEWS ---
What a brilliant way to celebrate Shankhill’s 150th Anniversary year!
We are delighted and extremely proud to be able to share the report from our ungraded Ofsted inspection on 26 March 2024. We are thrilled that the Quality of Education, Safeguarding, Character Development and overall care and education from Early Years to Year 6 have been recognised as continuing to be good, but also deemed to be OUTSTANDING. However to award this grade, Ofsted plan to re-visit Shankhill to do a full graded inspection within one to two years.
The report states: “Outcome: There has been no change to this school’s overall judgement of good as a result of this ungraded (section 8) inspection. However, the evidence gathered suggests that the inspection grade might be outstanding if a graded (section 5) inspection were carried out now. The school’s next inspection will be a graded inspection.”
This is the best possible outcome that could have been achieved! YOU CAN READ THE FULL REPORT BY USING THE LINK BELOW
We also offer a breakfast club, after-school clubs and teacher-led Nursery provision for 3 and 4 year olds. Children can join us as soon as they have their third birthday.
Our high-quality education and childcare runs from 8am to 5:30pm, which can include 30 hours free provision for 3 and 4 year olds.
We are located only 6 miles (10 minutes) from Longtown and 9 miles (15 minutes) from Brampton, so why not call in for a visit with your child - they'll love it!

Our Vision
Creative learning, personal achievement and happiness. Enabling everyone to flourish and 'to live life in all its fullness'. (John 10:10)
Our school community, based on Christ's teaching, seeks to develop, in each child, a vision of human flourishing, built on wonder, kindness, gentleness, excellence and academic rigour, explored through moral and creative learning experiences.
Our vision is everything you will see within our daily school life: all children flourishing through the many opportunities and challenges they are presented with. We educate the whole child to be 'the best me I can be': for learning and as a person.
Our Mission Statement
Within our ethos:
- Our school will develop in each child a respect for others and the environment we all share, so that they may become responsible, well-rounded young people;
- School will be enjoyable within a caring atmosphere in which learning will be exciting, creative and inclusive.
We do this by exploring the Christian values which permeate our vision for education in Shankhill Church of England Primary School. everyone in Shankhill is on a personal spiritual journey to be "the best me I can be" by exploring our Shankhill virtues:
